TGIF

Have you every had one of those days you felt like you should just stay in bed? I totally feel that way today. I don't know what it is, but today is just not my day.

I have been expecting all call from the insurance adjuster about my car. I took it for an estimate yesterday and apparently the lady did $2,000 worth of damage just backing out of her drive-way. Good thing I got the estimate, I thought it was going to be a lot cheaper than that. But the insurance adjuster hasn't called me yet, bleh I hate dealing with them.

Then I came into work with a pissy email from my boss. I have been working 50+ hours a week since about September and my boss is finally getting in trouble about it. Awesome right? Well, yes and no. Last week I was told I was not able to write down my overtime so I had to leave early. That was great! Well yesterday I left 30 minutes early because I knew I wouldn't be able to today and I get a pissy email about it. Yet, he sat over here last week and told me that my coworker and I were to figure our hours out between us. The best part is, my coworker had no overtime this week and left 30 minutes early the day before and he didn't say a word to me. How does that make sense? I think I am being discriminated against because I'm so young.

Tonight is my little sisters dance recital and for some reason I had it ingrained in my mind that is next week. Well since we are "short-handed" I will not get to go, even though I offered to come in early. Gee, thanks.

I watched New In Town, and while I thought Renee Zellwegger looked amazing it just wasn't as funny as I had hoped. I think that there was some missing plot somewhere. But I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.

So while I sit here and be grumpy I have a few friends that are attempting to cheer me up, but I think Captain Morgan is the best solution!

I survived Memorial Day, barely

While my mind is still on "vacation," but my body is at work and still feeling exhausted. Yes, it's sad.

This weekend I probably had a little bit more fun than I should have, and I didn't even make it to the water. So without further a due, here are my weekend highlights:
  • My partying started on Thursday while drinking free McCormick vodka. I don't know if you have drank this, but I feel for you if you have. I had the worst hangover on my way to work Friday. I spent most of the day drinking powerade hoping I could hydrate.
  • While out on Saturday we started our partying at 2 P.M. and I tried this stuff called Swack. If you like Jager, you should try it. It is cheaper and not terrible.
  • During my afternoon I got pretty buzzed and managed to make money with my cleavage. I didn't do anything, and the dollars just kept coming.
  • The guy that my friend is in love with once again tried to sleep with me, and once again I had to tell him no. This time my friend was standing right there and she still didn't say a word to him.
  • Some lady hit my car!!! It was parked on the curb of my friends house and she apparently backed out of her drive-way like a bat outta hell and hit me. There is a huge dent in my driver side rear door. Talk about a nice surprise.
  • Soon as we got back to my friends house all the neighbors ratted on said lady. I guess they weren't going to let me get screwed over. Such nice people, they all deserve karma points.
  • I danced with some men dressed in drag.
  • I drank way more than I should have.
Well that's not all of the weekend's fiasco's but it was a few. Now looking at it, it isn't as entertaining as I hoped. Oh well. I hope you all had a lovely Memorial Day.

I came back to a lovely award though! Moonjava tagged me in the Adorable Blog Award! I was so excited.

      Oh UPS man ...

I think UPS men have a way of spying on you and only come to your house and the most inconvenient time possible. Honestly, they have to. I never seem to be "appropriate" when they come a knockin on my door.

Like yesterday, I have been anxiously awaiting my new phone to get here (because I sent back the first POS they sent me and decided to go back to a Blackberry if you read my other post) all week and according to the UPS Web site it would arrive Thursday.

Now I don't know about you, but I enjoy sleeping in very little to no clothes in order to be comfortable. But since UPS enjoys knocking on my door at 9 am I decided I would sleep in clothes to prevent indecency. I went as far as sleeping with a sports bra on so I didn't have to worry about the girls movin around as I ran to the door?

Well since I work evenings I sleep in a little later than most people, and 9 am came and past. I woke up at my normal time and still no UPS man. :( (<--- sad face) It was getting close to work time, so I jumped in the shower and decided that the UPS man would probably show up at 5 pm and have to take my phone to my apartment office.

But of course, since UPS has this inconvenient time tracking device, he knocked on my door right after I stepped out of the shower. So here I was, wet and naked and was debating on what to do. Do I open the door and give the guy a surprise or do I hunt for my robe then make a run to the door.

      Think. Think. Think.

While I was seriously tempted to just open the door in the nude, I decided there was the possibility a film guy from Girls Gone Wild could be outside with the UPS man in hopes of getting his next great movie. But porn stars are loaded right? Well unfortunately I don't think Girls Gone Wild stars make any money, and well I'm not going to be on TV naked for free.

So, I ran to my room grabbed my robe and headed for the door. Unfortunately the UPS man decided to knock and dash and he was already gone seconds after his one and only knock. Maybe I should have just taken chances on being the next hottest porn star?

Luckily my apartment office takes packages so I didn't have to worry about a crazy neighbor taking my goods or another day of playing "wait for the UPS man."

      Wordless Wednesday

Sounds like a party to me! :)

      Happy things

I've been sooooo slow at posting this, and I do apologize. The lovely Tamela at A Brunette Making it One Day at a Time tagged me in a meme.

While there are several unimportant things that make me happy I am limited to only six.

My six unimportant things that make me happy are:
      1. Iced caramel frap from Starbucks <--- I love these too Tamela
      2. Sleeping in during the weekend
      3. Hanging out outside under the stars
      4. A new pair of shoes
      5. Extra fruit sensations strawberry banana gum
      6. Finishing a hard workout

I am also supposed to tag people for this, so I want to tag all of my followers because I would love to know what makes them happy!

      Tornado torture

On Wednesday, (yes this is a bit old) we had some tornadic weather on our hands. Sitting at work I heard the tornado sirens go off three times. Luckily, the storm wasn't coming straight towards us and I didn't have to hike the 10 floors or so down to the basement. When doing that, I always seem to get a bit dizzy.

Anyways, so 5 tornadoes hit Oklahoma and I was lucky enough to not have any effect me or my family. Since it is tornado season, I often think of a story from my freshman year of college. I wasn't so nice then.

So freshmen year of college, we are basically all for the first time alone without the parentals. It's great to have that first feeling of freedom. But during that first few breaths of freedom something always happens that makes you remember what it is like to have parents and lets you know just how much you miss them.

For Texans, it is generally the first time they hear tornado sirens go off. Now not all Texans are this way, but there are several (especially down south) who don't know what it's like to deal with tornadoes.

This is where it gets fun because you can make up ridiculous stories that really scare them. I think my best story was talking about the dorms. At my university we had three "towers" that were like 12 stories tall I believe. Well when the sirens go off you aren't supposed to use the elevators, only the stairs. You are supposed to move as quickly as possible to the bottom floor.

Seeing as how most of them haven't been through a tornado they didn't realize that the first time the sirens go off it is generally just a warning for severe weather and tells you to turn on the TV. Well being mean, my friends and I convinced these poor Texans that they needed to ready to evacuate if they heard the sirens and not to worry because the top three floors of the building were made so they would fly off in order to save the structure of the building. They had rooms on those floors and were distraught to hear such thing.

So from there on out I am pretty sure those poor Texans were watching the news any time they saw lightning or heard thunder. They of course didn't want to get caught on one of those floors of a twister was coming.

What I didn't inform them of was the fact that the town had not been hit by a tornado since the 80s, and of course the warning siren.

While mother nature is no joke, it was still fun to play with the Texans.

      Awe-summm

I was happy to see that I was tagged in not one, but two awesome awards. Is that exciting or what?

The lovely Moonjava tagged me for the lemonade award and the lovely a H.I.T. crowned me queen! If you haven't read their blogs you really should, they are both great!

Since the rules for both are basically the same, I am going to just do it once.

      So, my Queen duties include:
      1. List 7 things that make me awe-summm.
      2. Pass the award onto 7 bloggers that I love.
      3. Tag those bloggers to let them know they are now Queens too (and link back to the Queen who tagged you).

7 Things That Make Me Awe-summm:
      1. I can't curl my tongue. Yeah I'm unique because everyone can do that.
      2. I have stood in four states at once.
      3. I have eaten pop rocks and drank pepsi at the same time and my stomach didn't explode.
      4. I only get a hangover from cheap beer.
      5. For the longest time I thought the whole world celebrated me on my birthday and still do. (Fourth of July)
      6. I've saved many stray cats growing up. My grandparent's always seemed to love it when I found another. :)

      Oh Jillian

We are now entangled in a love/hate relationship.

I love you because of your persistent attitude that won't let me give up, but I hate you because you make me hurt.

I watched the 30 Day Shred video before actually doing it and the whole time I was thinking it would be easy. WRONG!

I was so wrong, that thing is a killer. I'm not sure if it is because I haven't been working out nearly as much as I used to, or if it was really just that difficult. I don't think I have jumped that much since I was in grade school, honestly.

I started out using 5lb weights and found out that those were just too heavy. Sounds terrible I know. My arms are really weak, especially after my attempt at terrible push-ups. Honestly those things are killer and I hate them. But, Jillian loves them and she will make me continue doing them. sigh

I honestly felt like jello when I was done, and I haven't sweat that much during a workout in a really long time. Yeah gross, sorry.

Today I am decently sore. My legs don't really hurt except for my calves, but my shoulders, abs and back are a different story. Those are pretty sore.

I'm still debating if I will be able to do this 30 consecutive days. Whatever happened to a day of rest? I thought that was important for your muscles. I don't know I guess we shall see.

      I'm jumping on the bandwagon...

I've noticed a few of my bloggy friends are doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, and I decided I would give it a shot. It can't be that bad right? (Even though the lady at Best Buy told me she heard it was brutal)

So tonight after work I am heading to the gym to pop it in. Yes, I am going to the gym because I don't think the people that live downstairs want to hear me jumping up and down. But who knows, they might.

So I'll blog some more tonight when I get home and let you know if I died or not. Wish me luck, cause I am going to need it to stick to 30 consecutive days.

      Excuses, excuses

Everybody makes them. I don't think I know a single person that can get by without them. Hell, I even use them probably a little more than I should, but I always make sure they could actually happen.

There is a lady that I work with, and she is the "queen" of excuses. She calls in all the time, and by the end of March had used all four weeks of her vacation and sick leave. I have no idea how she is going to make it the rest of the year.

But here's the kicker... While she calls in all the time, she makes some excuses that are so bogus that I don't know how my boss hasn't called her on it. Probably because he is scared of her for some reason. So, after hearing another bogus reason to call in yesterday, I decided to share her top excuses.

Excuse 1: Two days after tomatoes were declared safe from salmonella, she claimed to have caught it and had to miss work because she ate tomatoes. Tomatoes were not on the market, she even said she threw all of hers away. How do you catch salmonella from safe tomatoes? If so, why didn't you go to the hospital to let society know that they aren't safe yet?

Excuse 2: Kidney stones. I know kidney stones are no joke, but I also know that kidney stones last longer than one day. I haven't ever had them, but I have some friends that have and they were in pain for a few days. She on the other hand, had them for one day and one day only.

Excuse 3: I have to take my grown adult married daughter for her post-pregnancy check-up. Why on earth do you need to take your daughter to get her girly parts checked out? Were you there to watch her pee on a stick too?

Excuse 4: (I had to save the best for last) I trusted what (insert boss name here) said and I went out to Rib Crib's all you can eat ribs on Saturday. The first batch wasn't cooked all the way, but I ate them anyways and was sick as a dog. I really thought I had the swine flu. SERIOUSLY? You thought you had the swine flu even though the ruled it out that humans were getting it from eating pork? And are you sure you were eating pork ribs and not cow?

So there you have it, random excuses from my co-worker that seem just absolutely ridiculous. While it is funny to look back and remember some of the random crap she says to get off work, I realize how annoying it is to do all her work plus mine.

      I know you want me

I love this crazy song. I just thought I would share because honestly it makes me want to get up and dance. I have no idea why, but I dig it.

      Life's not fair

As Mother's Day approaches I find myself more and more bitter. Not because I am sick of seeing all the ads like a typical holiday, but because for the first time in my life I won't be celebrating with my mother or my grandmother. This is first for me.

Even though Easter and my sister's birthday were my first true holiday's alone, I feel like this will be the hardest one I have faced thus far.

Every year we would go to my grandma's house and have lunch then spend the day with her. Typically she would cook even though we always told her not to. I miss that. This year I had already planned a surprise for my mom by January because I knew this would be an extremely rough year for her, but now she's gone too.

I can't help but be pissed off. I'm pissed off that my grandma was taken from me in September. I'm pissed off that I had to turnaround and plan my mom's funeral in February. It's just not fair.

And believe me I know that life's not fair. Everyone has told me that, I grew up knowing that but I don't care. This is just wrong. It's wrong to do this to anyone. No one deserves pain like this, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I'm 25-years-old and I feel like I have lost the biggest part of who I am, and I have because these are the women that made me who I am.

So I sit here in a slump, ranting about things I know I can't fix. But I do hope that all of you who are lucky to still have your mother's and grandmother's make sure you let them know how special they are because you never know when it will be the last time you get to hear them tell you that they love you too.

Rest in peace grandma and mom, I will forver love and miss you.

Six things that make me happy

      Yay a Thursday meme(still doesn't ryhme.)

I was tagged by the lovely Stacie at Buried the Lead. for a meme! She's a great blogger that always has a great read...so check her out.

      The Rules

      1. Mention the person who nominated you (above).

      2. List six unimportant things that make you happy
      3. Tag six blogs, state the rules & notify them with a teeny comment on their blog.

So without further ado, I present to you 6 UNIMPORTANT things that make me happy:

      1. Spending time with my siblings. Especially when my little brother or sister do or say something silly. They say kids say the darnedest things and it is so true with my little siblings.

      2. Coming home to a home-cooked meal. This hasn't happened in awhile.

      3. Laying out under the stars on a warm clear evening. I love seeing the moon and the stars while drinking a bottle of wine. I just always make sure that there isn't any bugs around.

      4. Chocolate and peanut butter. I really love reese's cups. They are great in ice cream, frozen, in just about anything really.

      5. Weekends. I love knowing I have two days of time I can do stuff, but also know that I can lay on the couch in front of the T.V. if I wanted to.

      6. Hoodies. I love when the weather gets just cool enough for me to pull out my hoodies. I could wear them all the time.

Now, I tag 6 people....(of course, please don't do this if you don't want to!)

      Hmmmm....

      Ice chomping

I'm going insane! I am sitting in my little cubicle without my iPod and am forced to listen to the noise of my every day office. I hate it.

The worst thing is there is a guy sitting across from me that enjoys huge drinks full of ice. Then he loves chomping on the ice, LOUDLY!

Don't get me wrong I enjoy eating ice from Sonic drinks, but it doesn't sound like thunder coming out of my mouth. I have no idea how he managed to chew it so loud, but I swear it could be hurting my ears. On top of that the cup is constantly sloshing as he lifts it up to get more ice.

Oh gosh, now he is enjoying an apple.

      Just say no

Last night after work I was craving one of those orange vitamin waters (I'm addicted) and knew there was only one gas station close that sold them.

So I stopped by and picked up my vitamin water, oh so happy to fulfill my craving. And then, I stopped.

Being the nosey girl I am, I overheard the the clerk talking about white spots on his tonsils to this girl I assume was his girlfriend. She said she would bring him some antibiotics the following day.

That's when I placed my oh so delicious vitamin water on the counter and said no thanks.

      I then walked out.

I have no desire to get sick, much less strep.

      When bra's attack

Why is it you start having bra issues at the most inconvenient times? Have you ever noticed that?

Well, today my favorite bra (yes I have a favorite) must have decided to go on strike. Not only did it decide to go on strike, but it decided to do so at work. Great.

I am a fan of the under wire bra's and until the under wire breaks. I figure you just get your bra all worn in (kind of like a hat) then the thing breaks on you. That's what happened to me today.

Usually when I am close to home I can just deal with it, but now I am sitting at work with leaving time nowhere in sight. So this leaves me with two options ... let the under wire poke me the entire time or pull the under wire out and risk the fact that one of my girls may be a lil off. I guess I will just deal with the pain.

So, now I get to finish my day trying to not tug at my boobs bra the entire time. And if I do have to tug at my bra to make sure the girls are behaving, I have to make sure none of the men I sit around are looking. Cause we all know how it is perfectly acceptable for a man to grab his crotch in public, but if a girl adjusts her boobs it is like a mortal sin.

      It's just not fair.
